About Me
I’ve spent much of my career turning complex ideas into thoughtful, intuitive, and engaging digital experiences. From websites and mobile apps to design systems, enterprise portals, and desktop applications, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a little bit of everything. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that great design isn’t just about how something looks. It’s about how it works, how it feels, and how it makes someone’s life a little easier.
I’m a designer by trade, a problem-solver by nature, and a technologist at heart. I’m endlessly curious about how things work, why they work the way they do, and how they could work better. That curiosity has taken me well beyond design tools and into the technology behind the experiences we create.
My Journey
My career hasn’t followed a straight line, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I started out exploring digital media, product design, and even a little automotive design before finding my footing in web and print. Along the way, I worked in Los Angeles and South Florida, eventually becoming Art Director for a financial magazine, where I helped shape everything from its print publication and website to its presence at industry trade shows.
As the digital world evolved, so did I. My focus shifted toward web design and eventually UI/UX, leading to opportunities in Washington, D.C., with Conservation International, and later in Raleigh, where I worked with organizations including Lenovo, the American Board of Anesthesiology, and Red Hat.
Most recently, I spent several years designing digital experiences for Cardinal Financial, helping simplify complex financial processes and create more intuitive tools for the people who rely on them.
Since then, I’ve been putting my creative and technical curiosity to work on a personal venture called American Made Stories, an independent editorial project celebrating the people, companies, and craftsmanship behind American-made products. From branding and website design to content strategy and experimenting with AI-powered automation, it’s given me an opportunity to wear a lot of different hats, learn some new tricks, and build something I’m genuinely passionate about.
Through it all, one thing has remained constant: I love a good challenge. Whether it’s untangling a complicated workflow, exploring an emerging technology, or finding a better way to solve an everyday problem, I’m happiest when I’m learning, creating, and making things work better.
When I’m Not Designing…
I’m a husband, dad to two amazing girls, musician, and lifelong tinkerer. I love playing bass guitar, exploring new technology, and getting my hands dirty with my ever-evolving home lab, where I experiment with self-hosting, automation, and whatever else catches my curiosity. I’ve been known to disappear down a rabbit hole trying to make something work that probably didn’t need fixing in the first place.
I’m also a firm believer that good coffee and great chocolate make just about anything better. Preferably together.
So, What’s Next?
That’s the exciting part. I’m always interested in new ideas, interesting problems, and opportunities to create something meaningful. If you’ve got a challenge worth solving, I’d love to hear about it.
